My Story

I discovered my natural love of thatching from an early age, helping my father, a Master Thatcher himself. He taught me everything.
Working with him at weekends and on school holidays, I soon became adept at the craft of thatching.
Having passed my GCSE exams in 1990, I already knew I wanted to join my father full time up on the roof!
This I did for many happy years learning every conceivable scenario , from working on 13th century long houses to brand new modern extensions and new builds with challenging features and shapes.
Since my father’s retirement in 2015, I have broadened my vision and have worked alongside other Master Thatchers on a few projects, and been lucky enough to experience their styles and practises which has now given me the biggest opportunity to be able to utilise all the skills into my own craft.
After all, the saying goes ‘we never stop learning’.

So Here I am 30 years later with a wealth of experience and as a full member of The National Society of Master Thatchers I am a proud husband to my wife Victoria, and father to my two children Bailey & Audrey.
Along with my passion and drive to work to the highest of standards, my sharp eye for detail, commitment and happy nature has gained me a large portfolio of loyal customers old and new over the years, some dating back to the mid 1980’s when my father worked on their roofs.
This in turn and the fact that I source only the best quality Wiltshire grown wheat straw, buying for more than 25 years from a farm in Box, near Bath.
This has all attributed to my exemplary reputation of which I am very proud yet humbled to admit. One customer once told me ‘you have the whole package!’ ‘professional, friendly and fair priced’.
I work in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset, although I have been enticed further afield by the odd celebrity!
